with Sizzles Print Shop & Vicki Sibson
This festive family printmaking workshop allows for both adult and child to get lost in the world of printmaking, and to both come away with their own set of handmade cards (or you are welcome to work on a design together, whichever you prefer!).
This is not a linocutting class and does not use linocutting tools, you will use styrofoam. The workshop is suitable for children age six and up and is easy to create a design on and produces wonderful prints.
What to expect:
The adult and child will have a pack containing Christmas cards, pencil, and printmaking material. There will also be some inspiration handouts and templates to use too.
You will be guided through how to make unique hand printed Christmas cards using just a pencil, scissors, ink and card. We will be using water based relief inks which are washable with warm water and also dries very quickly.
Skills learnt:
In 2 hours you will learn a family friendly printmaking method suitable for all ages. You will understand the various stages of transferring your design onto a printing plate, how the tips and tricks of how to get the best effects and then how to apply ink. The final stage learnt will be printing your design by hand (literally just your hands and maybe a trusted spoon!), this is a really fun stage peeling off the paper or card to reveal your creation! You will be able to take home your handmade unique designs on a range of cards and prints.
What’s included:
A chance to get creative and inky and not in your own home!
Creative activity to carry out together/ or separately alongside each other
All inks, printing plates, rollers etc are included for use during the workshop
Festive inspiration provided
Templates if you are struggling with ideas
Refreshments - we will take a little break mid way through for a refuel with a drink and snack
You do not need to be able to draw to be able to print, all abilities are very welcome and will come away with some great prints! It may be helpful to have an idea or two of something very simple that you would like to create, so maybe come with a little doodle or picture.
